Bantam/15U

Bantam and 15U LEVELS

Girls participating at this level will be able to select either bantam (co-ed) or 15U, but are required to play at the level they tryout.  Both girls and boys who participate at this level should prepare for the season with body-contact/checking camps to ensure they are prepared to safely both give and receive body contact during play.

What to Expect

  • USA Hockey continues classification play at the Bantam and 15U  levels to ensure each player is participating at the appropriate level of competition for their skills.   Levels that are often used are A, B1, and  B in North Dakota, while Minnesota and other areas may use A, B, and C which equate to our A, B1 and B.  Girls levels often used are A and B with similar competition across states. 
  • Skaters should have 3-60 minute practices and up to 5 games (individual or tournament) per week.     
  • Continued skill development.  Improving skating, passing, shooting, positional play and tactical preparation.  Stress importance of working and developing the team concept.  Continue official game play with USA Hockey officials and rule application.  Ensure safe body-contact given and received. 
  • Bantam league permits checking. 
  • Coached by non-parent and parent coaches led by the Hockey Director. 
  • Teams will wear assigned home and away uniforms and be matching socks for both home and away games.  Skaters will also be given practice jerseys to use but goalies can come in their own jerseys.   All jerseys given to all players must be returned at the end of the season. 
  • Each team has team manager who helps with the off-ice activities such as photo distribution, team parties, etc.  This individual will fulfill their season requirement of 10 dibs (volunteer units) upon successful completion of this role. 
  • Each team also has a team scheduler who helps validate game schedules, referee schedules, track scoresheets, etc.  This individual will also fulfill their season requirement of 10 dibs (volunteer units) upon successful completion of this role. 
  • Parents/guardians are required to perform off-ice duties on a regular rotation for their team's home games. 
  • State league play will begin for both Bantam and 15U teams.  Leagues are defined by the NDAHA. 
  • Travel teams will have a total of 3 tournaments each season as well as participation in the North Dakota State Tournament (all teams).  More information about NDAHA can be found here: https://www.ndaha.org/
  • Players on the travel teams cannot participate as well in the Rec League. 
  • Players selected to move to either the Bantam AA or the 15UA team will be invoiced an additional $100 upon accepting the invite. 
  • Formal tryouts will occur and players will be evaluated over multiple days to ensure appropriate placement. 
  • Goalies continue to develop their skills and often will play in-net for multiple games per day when required. 
  • Goalies at this level receive a 50% discount on regular registration during the registration process.
