It might be silly, but we will all put the wrong shin pad on the wrong leg at least once (if not fifteen times!) so feel free to check out this video created by USA Hockey:

FAQ

Q: Is Intro to Hockey a requirement before you sign up for the season?
A: Absolutely not! We see Intro to Hockey as a low-cost, low-risk option for younger players interesting in trying hockey.   If your player is ready, feel free to sign up today on our website: www.westfargohockey.com/program

Q: How do I know which group to sign up for?
A: Choose a time that works for you a majority of the time knowing there may be times you will need to miss one or two.

Q: There is only one time showing in registration but I wanted the other time.  What can I do?
A: Unfortunately, we are not offering a waitlist for any groups that are full and are offering only this session this season. We hope you can find a way to make the other time work.

Q: What if I need to miss a date or be late? Who do I tell?
A:  No need to notify anyone unless you have decided to not participate in the program before the end of the session.  This would be to ensure we are able to get the equipment back and assign it to another player.

Q: What if I loose or forget a piece of my equipment?
A: Notify us when you arrive at the rink and we will do our best to replace it for you.

Q: How do we continue with West Fargo Hockey after this?
A: All of the information you need can be found on our website at www.westfargohockey.com/program. Registration for the younger levels closes on October 6th.

Q: How do we continue with Learn to Skate after this?
A: Learn to Skate is a great program offered by the West Fargo Park District and sign-ups can be found on https://www.wfparks.org/

Q: Can I come out on the ice with my skater during the events?
A: We do not allow parents, guardians, siblings, etc. in the players boxes, on the ice, in the penalty box, etc. If your player has special accomodations, you must first obtain approval from Hockey Director, Mike Parnell, or Assistant Hockey Director, Zach Feltman.  They can be contacted at mparnell@westfargohockey.com or zfeltman@westfargohockey.com .

Q: Does my skater need a USA Hockey number to participate?

A: Although WFHA is an affiliate of USA Hockey, skaters do not need a number unless they will participate during the regular season or any of our other camps. If they continue with termites, 6U,  mites or 8U, they will be directed to obtain a USA Hockey number during that process.

Q: Is it ok if my son or daughter does snow angels the whole time?
A: We have skaters of all ability and interest levels both before, during and after the camp. Remember that it’s called “Intro to Hockey” and not “Tryouts for the NHL” so let your child enjoy and grow with this in their own way.

Q: What kind of coaching will my player get?
A: We do our best to get as many coaches out there as possible. We work with the high schools to obtain coaches and utilize our parent coaches and volunteers to facilitate the events.  It’s important to note that we do our best to get around to all of the kids as much as possible.
