We are excited to announce that this year we are partnering with the West Fargo Park District's Learn To Skate program to offer six sessions that will merge the skills of skating with the skills of hockey to get your skaters off on the right foot (or skate!)

If your child is not interested in continuing with winter hockey, please return the gear after the final session to give another child a chance to try hockey.

How to Dress a Youth Hockey Player

Q: How do I know which Meeting to attend?
A: You can attend either meeting, both, or none but you are responsible to ensure your skater arrives dressed and ready to play. We prefer parents and guardians bring their questions to the early sessions or ask one of our volunteers during the on-ice sessions to ensure our coaches can be on ice with the kids.

Q: Can I choose what group/time my child participates? What if my child has a friend they want to attend with.  Can I ask that they be put together?
A: Players will be assigned to a session when registration closes. We will do our best to entertain special requests.

Q: What if I need to miss a date or be late? Who do I tell?
A:  No need to notify anyone unless you have decided to not participate in the program before the end of the session.  This would be to ensure we are able to get the equipment back and assign it to another player.

Q: What if I loose or forget a piece of my equipment?
A: Notify us when you arrive at the rink and we will do our best to replace it for you.

Q: How do we continue with West Fargo Hockey after this?
A: All of the information you need can be found on our website at . Registration for the younger levels closes on October 18th.

Q: How do we continue with Learn to Skate after this?
A: Learn to Skate is a great program offered by the West Fargo Park District and sign-ups can be found on

Q: Can I come out on the ice with my skater during the events?
A: Any parent who needs to be on the ice with their skater must first obtain approval from the Hockey Director, Jason Gregoire.  They must also wear a helmet and skates at all times.

Q: Does my skater need a USA Hockey number to participate?

A: Although WFHA is an affiliate of USA Hockey, skaters do not need a number unless they will participate during the regular season or any of our other camps. If they continue with termites, mites or 8U, they will be directed to obtain a USA Hockey number during that process.

Q: Is it ok if my son or daughter does snow angels the whole time?
A: We have skaters of all ability and interest levels both before, during and after the camp. Remember that it’s called “Intro to Hockey” and not “Tryouts for the NHL” so let your child enjoy and grow with this in their own way.

Q: What kind of coaching will my player get?
A: We do our best to get as many coaches out there as possible. We work with the high schools to obtain coaches and utilize our parent coaches and volunteers to facilitate the events.  It’s important to note that we do our best to get around to all of the kids as much as possible.

Intro to Hockey with Learn to Skate proudly brought to you as a part of our partnership with the West Fargo Park District.
